The Perception of Art!

When Viewing Art it is important for any individual to understand and remember that no two people perceive anything in the same exact way because each individual is different from every other individual - Too often a person's perception is interrupted by the opinions and ideas of another person and therefore is not allowed to make his or her own judgment as to how he or she feels about what they are observing because of this distraction - leading to a total distaste for art in general and more importantly to the art of any particular artist more specifically - but this does not have to happen and I would suggest that just as with the movies - there are any number of critics whose evaluations of movies are totally opposite of the opinions of the general public so the individual is better off not listening to any critic but simply going and enjoying whatever is being shown in the way of a movie and in the way of a work of art and do the judging for yourself! …………………………………………………………………………..

The Truth About Art -

Many times I recall hearing or reading different criticisms about art which attribute the style - the subjects and the thoughts expressed in the art that is being examined to the times and life styles and the preferences as well as the cultures of the times that the art has been created in - but I think that art is much much simpler than that - In the case of many of the art pieces that I have seen and studied and looked at over the years - the art that has been produced by both the most famous artists as well as the lesser known and often obscure artists is simply a reflection of their individual world - both visible as well as their inner worlds and to see art as anything more or less than that I believe is truly a mistake - ………………………………………………………

MY RESPONSE TO: Is anyone out there as irritated as much as I am by interminable, pretentious and self-aggrandising artists' statements?

far out - finally someone got effected by the irritation today - I was waiting and waiting and waiting - and finally - the fact is that there an unlimited or maybe perhaps an infinite number of different ways of seeing this issue as either a hindrance - unnecessary or a great opportunity to communicate with viewers of any piece of art out into the future - and depending on which approach or point of view a person takes - that will determine how much energy and effort and whatever else it takes to make such a statement worthwhile - perhaps a person just throws together something short and trite and does not even begin to examine how what he or she is saying now may perhaps be interpreted way on into the future - maybe a century or two from this point on - Van Gogh was in a sense extremely lucky in this regard since he had his brother Theo to write to and this may have helped him express himself and the concept of writing to a brother or sister - or a close friend - father or mother may do well to at least make things understandable and perhaps keep the high minded un understandable art speak to a bare minimum if you have it in your statement at all - VAN GOGH In his own words! ……………………………………………

A Few More Business Secrets!

Well today I can share with you a few more secrets - basically things that I learn by handing out my cards in the streets of Manhattan and elsewhere - I think that the most profound thing that I learn is how afraid that people are or can be of a person in the street - they often refuse to take my card because - they don't know what it is - and when I tell them what it is many times they are so happy that it has to do with art and are very open to even having a conversation with me about it - and what does it look like and even these very same people who seemed too busy a few seconds before will ask me what type of art and even have a few moments for me to show them some of my images on my smartphone right there on Fifth Avenue or wherever I happen to be - And then there are the people who try to push by me at the same time trying to avoid touching my body - it is really quite an amusing dance that many people gyrate into and then by the time they reach the corner and have stopped for the red don't walk signal - see someone else take my card and then all of a sudden - then they become interested in it and want to take one for themselves - and then there are the people - so many of them - who say that they are not interested in art at all - but then when I mention that perhaps someone that they know might like to view my art - well then that changes everything and they become most willing to take my card then - and so the different stories that I have mentioned above cover most rejections of my card being handed to the individuals but most of the time - when I am able or even have a few moments to take from handing out the cards to other individuals who are interested in and willing to take the card without encouragement -I can simply - most of the time - change a person's attitude and reaction to my offering them my card with a mere word or two - and just think - it just takes that moment or two to possibly change a person's entire life - if I have even for that brief moment changed their attitude to what this person was doing handing them a card on Fifth Avenue amongst the hustle and bustle that ensues most every day during the periods of time that I am there - and then in addition gotten them interested in going even further and actually viewing my art images connected with the website that the business card is advertising - ………………………………………………………………….
